Harry
I had a friend and neighbor pass away last week. He had lived a full life, but was not slowing down. Always wanting to help, offering advice or tools for every project. He was hauling gravel in his dump truck, putting in a big garden every year; always had a project going, he was great. And now he’s gone, just like that.
I went to the funeral and the person speaking said we all need to be ready (saved is what he meant). But God showed me another type of ready. I ‘m not sure if Harry was or wasn’t saved, I meant to get over there and talk to him about Jesus. We talked about other stuff. I wasn’t ready for him to leave yet. I was going to tell him about Jesus. Maybe he already made his peace with God, I dont know, but that is not the point. Was I faithful and ready to do what GOD had put on my heart to do? That is the question. Sadly the answer is I was going to and never did. We all have opportunities to do what God wants us to right now. We need to be ready to answer the call and take risks, step out in faith and we need to be patient yes, but when God says move, Move. We might not have tomorrow.
I was wise man once said “Only what we have invested in the eternity of souls will last forever”. Joe

“I was going to and never did” I can say this about a lot of things myself!
I remember facing this for the first time when a high school acquaintance committed suicide. It was too late to tell him about Jesus then.
It’s a hard reminder, but a necessary one. Thanks for your honesty and your challenge, Joe!

Joe, thanks for the reminder. We went to Kim Bellamy’s going home service the same day you went to your neighbor’s funeral. She was ready. But I like the question you bring up.
